Membership of BANEA and LCANE is open to anyone who is interested in the archaeology, languages, and history of the ancient Near East
Both BANEA and LCANE are non-profit, subscription-funded organisations with a joint membership arrangement by which we share membership funds on a 50:50 basis. Your subscription helps us fund activities such as conferences, public lectures, schools outreach events, and grants for conference attendance or small scale research projects. Without membership subscriptions, none of this happens.
Hear the news first
Members will receive news and announcements about BANEA and LCANE activities through our mailing list, before these are announced elsewhere.
We only use this mailing list to contact you about membership, and information about events organised directly by BANEA or LCANE. We will not spam you with circulars about other events but we do spread the word about general ANE news and events through social media and the London Diary.
Have your say
Members have voting rights at the respective BANEA and LCANE Annual General Meetings (AGMs), and are also eligible to be nominated for a place on the respective BANEA and LCANE Steering Committees.
We are keen to hear from our members and the wider community of ancient Near Eastern studies and will be inviting input and open more decisions to the vote.
Be part of a community
BANEA and LCANE events are an excellent way to get to know others with similar interests in the ancient Near Easts, and be part of an industrious and friendly community. Find your people.
Apply for grants
With membership, you will be eligible to apply for grants given out by both BANEA and LCANE, which support a range of activities such as conference attendance, small scale research projects, or public engagement events.
